This week’s #1 selling title spent time as #1 on the IMDB’s worst 100 movies of all time list. This is, basically, a week for legacy titles on Blu-Ray, most notably including the Alien franchise.

| Blaine: Amazon.com’s #1 selling title this week. Its average score on the IMDB is 1.2/10, which should place it at the “top” of their 100 worst movies of all time list. There are enough voters giving it marks in the 9-10 range that the Bayesian filter keeps it hovering just out of range. The fact that it was on that list the week it first came out, after many of his die-hard fans had placed votes, makes me wonder if the studio has hired people to vote for it and drag it out of the pit, though clearly I have no evidence of that. It may also suffer from inaccurate expectations. From what I’ve heard (from students who have seen it), they went in expecting a concert movie, and instead got the kind of behind the scenes footage that they’d expect as a bonus feature on a concert DVD. | ||

Finally, the picks of the week. Alex says, “I’m going with the Nova episode, even more since the Jeopardy episodes have aired, and Watson won.” Blaine says, “I haven’t seen The Illusionist, so I’m going with the Alien franchise. (Or, at least, the first two.)”
I thought about going with the Alien Blu-Rays for my pick, except for the fact that the Alien Anthology is probably a much better buy then getting them individually.
