1. Burn Notice is a fantastic show and should be watched by all!

   Also if you’ve not seen at least Duck Soup, you should.

2. ‘The Man Who Would Be King’ is Sean Connery and Michael Caine at their finest! I missed this one on the lists, and I bought season three of ‘Breaking Bad’ to use up a $10 cert at Best Buy. Truly a show that draws you in.
   HBO’s ‘Rome’ was a fantastic show, and I was really bummed when they shut it down. Only Starz’ ‘Spartacus’ series matches it. I would highly recommend ‘Rome’ if you haven’t seen it.

   • Rome was the series that turned me on to the pay channels and showed me what kind of mature content can be shown on TV without the FCC interfering. Spartacus was Rome on steroids and I can’t wait for the next season, too bad it will be a different actor for Spartacus.

     I also liked The Tudors for the most part, especially Peter O’toole’s portrayal of the Pope.

     I missed True Grit in theaters, need to watch it.

     • I fully concur with Rome and Tudors. Absolutely epic and beautiful.

       And they led to “Game of Thrones” happening, so double win!

3. I found Rome interesting, but overrated. If it hadn’t been cancelled, I would have stopped watching.

   The early Marx Brothers are well worth a view, Bridge On the River Kwai should be seen at least once, and I’m looking forward to finally seeing the recent adaptation of True Grit.

   Frankenstein Junior and The Impossibles? That brings back memories.

4. Dan Zukovic’s “THE LAST BIG THING”, called the “best unknown American film of the 1990’s” in the film book “Defining Moments in Movies” (Editor: Chris Fujiwara), was finally released on DVD by Vanguard Cinema. (www.vanguardcinema.com/thelastbigthing/thelastbigthing) Featuring an important early role by 2011 Best Supporting Actor Oscar Nominee Mark Ruffalo (“Shutter Island”, “Zodiac”, “The Kids Are Alright”), “THE LAST BIG THING” had a US theatrical release in 1998, and gained a cult following over several years of screenings on the Showtime Networks.

       • Kinda my point actually. If we get a response, it’s a human being who may or may not learn to play by an appropriate set of rules. Had I gotten this via e-mail before writing the appropriate column, I’d have included the title on the list. Instead, if this account gets used to spam us again with no indication that this comment was read, it’ll just get banned with a private e-mail sent to the account holder to explain why.
