Christmas Countdown Begins
Starting tomorrow morning, we’ll have a Christmas
Countdown, much like the Halloween countdown we ran
a while back. (This one will only last two weeks,
though.) Most of the Christmas specials we grew up
watching will be reviewed, as well as a couple of
movies. The schedule can be found here.
The only thing that may seem to be missing is a
review of It’s a Wonderful Life. We
reviewed that in 2002.
Have a happy Winter Solstice, Hanukkah, Christmas,
Kwanza, and/or Gurnenthar’s Ascendance!
Comic Review – “X-Men: The End: Book One: Dreamers and Demons”
The final story of the X-Men has begun.

Babylon 5 movie on the way.
Reports like this
Cinescape article are coming in to confirm old
rumours. Babylon 5: The Memory of Shadows
will begin filming in April, based on a script
written by J. Michael Straczynski. It will include
the character of Galen, already familiar to those who
caught the Babylon 5: Crusade spinoff of a
few years ago. (No casting announcements have been
made, but I haven’t seen Peter Woodward working on
anything else lately.) Expect a review the morning
after it premiers.
Smallville Discussion – “Covenant / Crusade”
Tonight we get two reruns instead of a new episode of Smallville. The specific episodes are the season three finale and the season four premier, so we’ll see the introduction of Kara and Lois.
Weekly Comics Discussion
Another week, another round of comics. This will be
a light week for me, with only Doctor Spectrum
#4 and X-Men: The End Book One #6
coming in.
Short Films Review – “Looney Tunes Golden Collection: Volume Two”
Between the 60 in this set and the 56 included in the
first volume, we now have 116 Looney Tunes cartoons
carefully restored and in excellent shape. At the
rate of one volume a year, we’ve got at least a
decade to go before we have them all. I can’t wait.

Comic Review – “Ultimate Fantastic Four Vol. 2: Doom”
I’m trying to make comic book reviews a Tuesday
tradition here, giving preference to story arcs that
have trade paperbacks coming out on that week’s
Wednesday.

Weekly DVD Picks
This is a very good week. The December 7 schedule
has no fewer than seven serious contenders for the
pick of the week. Care to see which of them won out?

Free eBooks all month
eReader.com is giving away free eBooks every day this month. Logistically, it’s a sale of $0, so you’ll need to create an account to take advantage of the deal. This also includes submitting a credit card number, which I’m told is used as part of the eBook encryption to discourage file sharing. Still, free books are free books. The promo is here.
