The pentultimate episode of Tarzan airs tonight. This one is also
the shortest running Tarzan adaptation by the looks of it. Does
anyone here remember the shows from 1966 or 1991? Is this
really the worst, or is it just in a more demanding market?

Charmed Discussion – “Hot Mamas”
I guess the title “Three Witches and a Manticore Baby” was
already taken.
Textbook Review – “Movies and Meaning”
Here’s one of our rare textbook reviews. This one, however, isn’t about the hard sciences as most are, although it should still appeal to a fair portion of our readership.

Firefly DVD Website And Deals Now Up
rickyjames
writes, I wanted to pass on a couple of good things
I’ve heard about the Firefly DVD, which is of course
scheduled to be released on December 9. First, the
official FOX DVD website is now up at
http://www2.foxhome.com/firefly/ . Second, I’ve read
reports that if you go to a brick-and-mortar Suncoast Video
store (NOT their website) that you can preorder the entire
Firefly 4-DVD set for only $19.95. Rumor has it that their
internal store database currently has it listed as a 1 DVD
rather than 4 DVD set, which accounts for the low, low
preorder price (normally $39.95 and up). Naturally, you’d
be nuts not to preorder many, many copies at this price if
true. Check it out at your local mall. It’s the
second item on my Christmas list (behind the four-disk set
of Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers.)
Farscape: “I’ll Be Back”
Daemonik
writes, According to this (very short on details) article
on Ain’t It Cool News, Farscape is back in production with
4-6 new episodes.
Start planning your Farscape parties now. The Cinescape
coverage says that this is a miniseries independent of
the
Sci-Fi channel rather than a new season, but it’s still good
news.
Christopher Lee cut from LOTR ROTK Theatrical Release
Lurch_Kimded
writes, Just in case any of you are not aware, there is a report
that Peter Jackson has cut Christopher Lee (aka Saruman) from
the theatrical release of Return of the King. This has annoyed a
few people and a petition has been started (which you can sign
here
if you are interested). Personally I’m a bit miffed because from
what I have been told (for I am sinner I have not read the
hallowed tome’s that is Lord of the Rings) it is kind of pivotal
section and needed, or is it? The unconfirmed allusion at
the end of the article about Lee’s scenes showing up on the
extended four disk DVD have been confirmed by Peter Jackson.
It seems Lee’s scenes were all placed at the start of the movie,
and it felt more like a wrap-up of The Two Towers
than a kickoff of Return of the King. (Remember, the
movies don’t have time for the Scouring.)
Tru Calling Discussion – “Brother’s Keeper”
I wonder if this will be anything like Judd Winick’s
award-winning Green Lantern story arc.
