Kevin Smith won’t write ASM
Newsarama is reporting that Kevin Smith won’t take over writing duties on Amazing Spider-Man as previously scheduled. (That comes out in the Joe Quesada interview linked above.) Instead, Smith will be helming the new Spider-Man series that JMS was supposed to handle. The change was made because Kevin Smith can’t guarantee that he’ll get issues out every month, and those kinds of delays are inappropriate for Marvel’s flagship title. This does not affect the upcoming JMS-written Squadron Supreme MAX title.

New Wizard has 2003 comic preview
Wizard 137 has a preview of the top ten comic events in 2003, according to their expectations. The ones that caught my eye in particular are #7, J. Michael Straczynski’s MAX line Squadron Supreme title, #6, Neil Gaiman’s project tentatively titled 1602 that could inclue the entire Marvel Universe, #2, Jeph Loeb’s Batman and Superman teamup, and #1, the JLA/Avengers cross-over. There was no mention of John Cleese’ upcoming Elseworlds book about Kal-El crashing in England instead of Kansas.
