Enterprise Designer Matt Jefferies dies at age 82

According to this piece, Walter “Matt” Jefferies passed away on June 21st. He was responsible for the unique saucer and nacelle look of the original starship Enterprise from the 1966 series. That look would influence the next 37 years of starship design within the Star Trek universe.

For those of you struggling to place the name, you’ve have heard it a hundred times in every Star Trek series: The “Jefferies Tubes” are named in his honor.

Activision Sues Viacom for Screwing Up Star Trek

Apparently it’s not just us

Scifigod writes, Activision is now suing Viacom for breach of contract for “Lack of Support for ‘Star Trek’ Movie and Television Franchise and Failure to Cooperate With Activision”. Activision currently has several licensing deals for Video game production based on Star Trek and it’s companions.
