The producer of the new series is promising a contemporary update that “embraces the Doctor Who heritage.” Insert obligatory “I’m glad Rick Berman isn’t involved with this” here. I’m actually looking forward to this. I’m friends with a lot of Dr. Who fans and maybe this’ll be a way for me to get into the series.

The major Emmy awards were given out last night, and Steven
Spielberg’s Taken was the only genre winner.

We forgot to mention Cartoon Network’s new Duck
Dodgers cartoon, too, which has also been on the air a
few weeks. Canadian viewers can watch Duck
Dodgers on Teletoon on Thursday nights, but I’m unaware
of any Canadian stations running the new Spider-Man.

… and you thought the Emmys weren’t until next month. Well, most of them aren’t, but the “juried” Emmy awards (mostly technical stuff) have already been announced. Hank Azaria won his third Emmy for his work on The Simpsons, and the folks from Cartoon Network’s “Samurai Jack” won an award that I don’t even really know what it’s for. Details at CNN.
