OK, so Trek and Muppets are two parts of my childhood I’ve refused to grow out of, so this hit all sorts of dopamine receptors.
Some parts still annoyed me. Spock standing in the hallway just shooting until he gets blasted was really dumb. Also, I’m not sure about the whole, “It was a dream” reveal. We had an in-universe reason for a musical episode, why not this? Now it wipes out any character growth from anyone other than Spock.
Bonus thoughts:
Carol Kane was BORN to be a puppet. Perfect. No notes.
“Little Ricky” is likely a nod to Desi Arnez & Lucille Ball’s son. Ball was responsible for getting Star Trek made in 1966 through her production company, Desilu.
The “it was a dream” would have felt less like a cop out had Spock logically deduced it, instead of waking up surprised. As it is, it just feels like a cheat. I think you are right about “Little Ricky”.
