I’m torn. The sci-fi in me loves the idea and wonders why we weren’t at this point 10 years ago. The realist in me wonders about continuing oil shortages and questions if this is really necessary…
Besides, I always thought we should conquer the depths of the ocean before reaching out into space. There’s still much to discover here on Earth.

I beg to differ – a lot of the technologies we take for granted came out of the space program. By pushing further and further into space, we’ll have to develop new technologies which will benfit our society, including, hopefully, new sources of fuel and power generation.
