Buffy Discussion – “Lies My Parents Told Me” (new)

Technically, this is set before last week’s Angel. It’s also a new episode stuck before weeks of reruns before the new episodes come back in force this April. Spoilerish random thoughts are below.

Why did this have to be the last new episode in a month? I want more, dammit! Great moments include:

  • “Not you, Richard.”
  • The running joke about chains.
  • “He sounds pretty effeminate.”
  • Frat boy body counts.
  • Giles’ conversation with Wood in the basement.
  • “Nice little ditty.” (I know I’ll never think of The Friendly Giant the same way again.)
  • Spike’s conversations with the women of his past.
  • “By the way, love the jacket.”

  1. Time warp
Whoa, the next Buffy is set before the Angel the war made me miss? Freaky! : ) Gives me a chance to get back on track.

Well, to be precise, the events in the beginning of this episode precede the events of last week’s Angel. The events near the end of the episode are likely concurrant with them. Either way, you will not need to watch last week’s Angel to understand this Buffy, and vice versa.

  2. Spoilery, yet still half a week old ;- )
Ya know, on the one side we have Cordy and her “daddies have responsibilities…” talks, and on the other its Spike’s twisted oedipian tale of siring his mom.

    Mutant Enemy has issues…
    ;- )
