Christian Bale is Batman

Ain’t It Cool News and
Cinescape are
both reporting that Christian Bale has been cast as
Batman in Christopher Nolan’s Batman movie, which is
being developed under the title Batman:
Intimidation
. At this stage of the game,
Batman Forever was still called Batman
Triumphant
, so that title may change. (Someone
thought that Batman Triumphant gave away
the ending. That person needs to look up “forever” in a
dictionary.)

  1. hmmm… err…
This has promise I suppose, Bale does have the jaw (you do need a lantern jaw to be Bat’s) but he isn’t Michael Keaton (who I consider to be the definitive Batman – probably as much to do with Burton’s direction).

That being said “Equilibrium” really surprised me by being a really quiet good movie and Bale was good in it. He did kick butt rather well and had the unemotional-emotional act down pat, which is another thing I see as being a part of Batman.

Overall, I guess it can’t be worse than the last two. We’ll just have to wait and see who the villian/s is/are (and who plays them). Though I do have requests for the director, keep it simple and bleak and NO ROBIN!! PLEASE, for the love of Batman, no robin.

My money is on Scarecrow (though I think I’ve been saying that since Batman Returns)

I remember the rumor from that point in time. Howard Stern wanted to be Scarecrow, but didn’t want to do it in a Schulmacher film (a good idea). Now that Shulmacher is no longer attached, this could work.

I’m very optimistic with Christian attached. He’s an incredibly gifted actor and if the movie fails, it won’t be because of him. Now if we can just get a good script…

  2. Based on past movies…
We should see the introduction of 2 new good guy characters and 5 villians. This should take up the vast majority of the movie, leaving about 15 minutes for some goofy action sequences.

    Batman – introduces the Joker
Batman II – catwoman and the penguin
Batman III – robin, 2-face, riddler
Batman IV – batgirl, freeze, poison ivy, bane

    So who’s left?

Me unfortunetly…crying in the aisles of the theater that I actually PAID to go see the last two.

  3. “Batman Triumphant”?

Someone thought that Batman Triumphant gave away the ending.

What? It gave away the fact that he wins? I have a hard time believing they actually changed the title so that people wouldn’t assume he beats his enemies… although considering the film industry, maybe it’s not that surprising after all.

That’s the logic used in the press releases given to the theaters
showing the movie. (I was a projectionist at the time.) The only
reason to lie about that would be because the real reason was
      even more embarrassing.

Perhaps someone high up thought that “triumphant” meant
        “trumpetist”…

  4. Christian Bale
If any1 has seen Bale’s previous wrk, they should be vry excited abt this new developmnt. He is a great actor as one can see from “Am. Psycho” and “Velvet Goldmine” and has the ability to get physical (check out “Reign of Fire” or “Equilibrium”) I know I am excited! After Clooney and Kilmer, he will be a breath of fresh air. Nolan is a great director, so lets get a good script so they can do their thang!

WOOHOO!!! FINALLY!!! christian bale lands the huge role he deserves!!! and people come on American phyco as one of his best films? He ran around sleeping with women then killing them half the time butt naked! mention his work in Little Women or Swing Kids he was great in those! I also happen to love him in The Newsies Christian bale was born for this role! I mean just look at his face! he has that great jaw and nice cheek bones and that perfect nose which gives him the perfect look of a serious business man such as bruce wayne and i’ve seen a pic of him as Bruce Wayne and Batman and he looks sooo perfect for the part! The man is just all around amazing not to mention incredibly hot
