Finally, the picks of the week. Alex says, “I’m going with the original The Neverending Story, which I hope will be a serious contender when we do our Greatest Fantasy Film Tournament.” Blaine says, “when Criterion Collection releases Alfred Hitchcock movies, they are must own titles. Foreign Correspondent is my pick of the week.”
Hey, don’t be badmouthing Lee-spoitation movies. Some of them are fantastic, or at least hilarious. I saw one many years ago staring someone named “Bruce Le” (seriously!) called My Name Called Bruce. It was so Disco it was amazing. I’d spend $13.49 on a DVD-pack that included that thing!
I just recently re-watched The Neverending Story. It used to be one of my favourite movies as a kid (that and Gremlins). The funny thing is I remember Bastian and The Princess being “slightly older” than me… and they’re like, 9. Anyway, I think it still holds up, but definitely, definitely read the book.
I don’t have problems with Lee-sploitation movies. I do have problems when people market a collection of Lee-sploitation movies as if all the movies actually starred Bruce Lee. Frankly, if the collection was marketed as “9 Lee-sploitation Movies!” I think people would still buy it.
I know. That was just an excuse to mention that Bruce Le movie. (;
