Alex’s usual source for box office data doesn’t go back this far, but the IMDB does, particularly since it bought out Box Office Mojo. The budget is an estimated $3.5 million US, while the box office take was closer to $25 million. Using our “rule of thumb” of having 2-3 times the budget as domestic gross before becoming profitable, this was profitable, as the proportion was more like 7.5 times the budget.
