Even though it’s set to be released tomorrow, there is now some concern as to whether the much-anticipated movie “Hellboy” will open as scheduled.
Cardinal Glick, from a Catholic parish in New Jersey, is demanding that the movie be renamed. “Catholicism is the leading religion in this great country of ours,” Glick said, “and as a devout Catholic myself, it behooves me to stop these blatant lies. No creature of this type would be permitted to leave Hell, and as such, the name is misleading.”
Glick acknowledges the need for dramatic license, however, and in accord with Catholic dogma, suggests renaming the character “Purgatory Boy.”
Ya almost had me there
I was just about to start a massive rant about how stupid this is, then I remembered what today’s date is…
/sigh
Good one though.
Re: Ya almost had me there
Lost Me When He Used George Carlin As The Cardinal. 8^)
Re: Ya almost had me there
Quick vote, all in favor of beating Dave with a wet noddle, drive to his house and start flogging.
Re: Ya almost had me there
Gosh, that seems a bit overkill.
Re: Ya almost had me there
By The Way, can You Post Directions?
Re: Ya almost had me there
What, you want me to participate in my own manipulation? Pass.
Re: Ya almost had me there
Yeah, why would you want to do that to a poor, defenseless noodle?
Re: lol good one
Good joke, nice refernce to Dogma, hehe.
Incidentally, it’s an alright film.
I saw it this afternoon: I doubt it’s going to get any awards or rock anybody’s world, but it’s an okay film.
There is this glowing review from CNN a couple of days ago, but it was a good film as these things go, just not excellent, I think. There was a more balanced, and, in reflection, more on-target review in the AP a couple days ago, but CNN doesn’t seem to still have it, and I wouldn’t know where else to find it right now.
Truth is, I think it suffers to a degree in its variance from its source material (primarily the Seed of Destruction story, but also elements of Almost Colossus and The Corpse), but it seemed to go over well enough with the other people in the theater, so I may be voicing a degree of fanboyish dissatisfaction.
Whoops.
Sorry, that should be Wake the Devil, not Almost Colossus.
"The Corpse" should also be quoted; as it’s a short story, and not a book itself. This is also the case for "Almost Colossus".
