  1. Usually I vote for these guys by the impact they had on pop culture. For example, how likely would a random person be to know who the hell they are.

But sometimes you have to give someone props for being an absolute badass when they need to be, even if they are relatively obscure.

“Only one human captain has ever survived battle with a Minbari Fleet. He is behind me. You are in front of me. If you value your lives, be somewhere else.”

    • Totally unassuming and frequently underestimated, but absolutely a hard as nails badass every time it mattered. Worthy as that is though, it was the other side of Delenn that gets her above average for me – you’ve gotta give some serious props for the sacrifices she made as well.

The whole transformation thing, making herself a target of hatred by TWO entire races because it was necessary for “The Plan”, is pretty close to being as far down the path of self-sacrifice for the greater good as it’s possible to get. Or what about the emotional cost of walking into the plague chamber with Lennier that time, just because it was the right thing to do?

      • I re-watched it a few years ago. Well, I skipped season 5.

The story still holds up — sometimes even more so. A lot of it had a huge impact in the years following 9/11.

But a lot of the show is very ’90s. Not just the now-aged CGI (which was done in a different aspect ratio than the rest of the show), but the acting style, music and some of the pacing are pretty ’90s.

With all that, it’s still one of the best TV shows, genre or otherwise, ever made.
