Comic Television Discussion – Week beginning 4th November 2018

While The Flash and Black Lightning take a week off to read Blaine’s review of Daredevil, Supergirl introduces Manchester Black in a way that makes it clear that you should know who that is, presumable from some comics.  Arrow continues chasing last seasons big bad, while the Legends of tomorrow visit the British punk scene, where Constantine should feel at home, but is instead entirely underused.  The Titans start working as a team.  In the X side of things, we get the Stepford Cuckoos Frost Triplets backstory.  Riverdale way back into the old people’s ancient past (the 90s) to see the games they played.

Chilling Adventures of Sabrina – S01 – (10 episodes) – Reimagines the origin and adventures of Sabrina the Teenage Witch as a dark coming-of-age story that traffics in horror, the occult and, of course, witchcraft. Tonally in the vein of Rosemary’s Baby and The Exorcist, this adaptation finds Sabrina wrestling to reconcile her dual nature – half-witch, half-mortal – while standing against the evil forces that threaten her, her family and the daylight world humans inhabit. • The Oliver arc is clearly going somewhere. It’s just taking its time getting there. I was half expecting there to be “four lights” or for “morning” to be turned on and off. I’m sure we’ll still get the “four lights” moment, though.

With the flash forwards, I’m really interested to see where they’re going with that. I just have this sinking feeling they’re going to pull a time travel on that one (the future group ending up in the present and changing things). I’m hoping not. There is some hope that they won’t wuss out that way given the overall tone of Arrow but that doesn’t alleviate the sinking feeling.
