Weekly DVD Picks – Tuesday, April 12, 2005

This week is packed with mediocrity.

First, the genre releases:

Now, the non-genre releases:

Finally, the pick of the week. Sledge
Hammer!
Season Two
: Trust him, he knows what he’s doing.
Frankly, it’s
not that strong a recommendation. It’s just a really
weak week.
There is a lot of good material out, but very little
that’s great.

Harvey Birdman. If my suppliers don’t get back to me at work I may have to order it from Amazon, but either way it’s money well spent. “The Dabba Don” may be one of the best Sopranos spoofs ever done, and “A Very Personal Injury” actually makes use of a Superfriend without being unwatchable.

Hilarious stuff – it’s not everybody’s cup of tea, but for the price ($17.47 at Amazon.ca) I don’t think you can go wrong.

Does this box include the episode with the Scooby-Doo cast? (As opposed to the Scooby gang from Buffy, most of whom have ended up on Robot Chicken.)

It’s sometimes hard to keep track of how [adult swim] does some of their weird “deciding which shows belong in which box” stuff, and I’m not sure what the proper title of that episode is, so I dunno. That episode is easily worth the price of admission all by its lonesome, IMO.

It’s got the “Shaggy Busted” episode as far as I know, but I’m not sure if there are any others with the Scooby-Doo cast (Teletoon’s scheduling of this confuses me, so the only way I’ve seen most of them is through… other means, so I may have missed some).
