Bureau’s Breakroom’s Television Table – Week beginning 2021 January 10

Having caught up on all of what my wife calls “Drop Shows” (shows that drop the whole season at a time) we can all get ready for the return of the worlds most expensive series, the MCU! Season Phase 4 starts off with WandaVision at the end of this week.  If Marvel comics aren’t your thing, Dark Horse’s American Gods comes back for season three, also.  The Watch plans a heist, and The Good Doctor continues to be one of the only shows to exist in a universe where COVID has had an effect.  Well, The Good Doctor and Staged, as David and Michael continue to process the fact that their show is going to America without them.  Zoey gives us a new character, and The Expanse doesn’t give us a description.

[All synopses (and titles) from Trakt.tv below the cut, except when there really aren’t any. (If a show’s synopsis is a spoiler to you, do not click Continue reading →)]

The Watch – S01E03 – The What? – The Watch must rob the city’s most secretive institution in a desperate effort to find the artifact.

American Gods – S03E01 – A Winter’s Tale – A meeting with the god Wisakedjak leaves Shadow with a prophecy about his destiny.

Staged – S02E03 – The Dirty Mochyns – David and Michael spot an opportunity to sabotage the show. David is deflated to discover how people feel about him, while Michael is overjoyed to discover how people feel about him. Anna and Georgia consider their options.

The Good Doctor – S04E06 – Lim – As Chief of Surgery Dr. Audrey Lim struggles to cope with the residual emotional trauma of COVID-19, she encounters a young war veteran fighting debilitating PTSD. After discussing his case with the team, Dr. Claire Browne suggests a radical treatment to help him. Meanwhile, still reeling from the recent loss of his mentee’s patient, Dr. Shaun Murphy declares he doesn’t want to teach the new residents anymore. And elsewhere, an eccentric patient keeps the team entertained.

Staged – S02E04 – Woofty Doofty, David – There is fallout from how David and Michael have behaved. They try to establish who has more value. Georgia, Anna and Lucy discuss a charity evening that they are due to perform at.

Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist – S02E02 – Zoey’s Extraordinary Distraction – Zoey’s attempts to spend private time with Max are continually thwarted by both Mo and work problems. The Clarke family gets a new guest when Emily’s sister, Jenna, comes to “help” with the baby.

  1. Staged felt like they traded a cohesive plot for guest stars. This season felt like that sketch of the Curb Your Enthusiasm guy and Seinfeld talking to each other during a monologue of Saturday Night Live where they just addressed each other and said “Hey! You’re here!” a lot.

  2. I am enjoying The Watch. It was the throw away line in Episode 2 that clued me in this is the famous Disc World series that I never got into.

Unrelated, I watched the 2012 movie The Watch because I like Moss from The IT Crowd. You don’t need to watch that.
