Finally, the picks of the week. Alex says, “On the non-4K front, I’m going for the new re-release of The Exorcist if you don’t have it already (and you can’t watch the recent 4K release), and can’t afford the Shaw Brothers Vol. 3 Collection). Otherwise, on the 4K UHD front, I’m going Muppets Take Manhattan.” Blaine says, “I would also recommend The Exorcist.”

  1. The Boys is brilliant, if aggressively not for all tastes. We have two this week which, while not masterpieces, are significant in film history. It! The Terror from Beyond Space is one of the inspirations for Alien, and Rock Around the Clock is one of the better teen “Rock ‘n’ Roll flicks from the 50s. These things were cheaply made and laughably dumb but they gave teens in East Podunk a chance to see their new heroes on the screen, and it brought rock ‘n’ roll a wider audience.

I haven’t seen Zelensky but it’s clearly historically important for weightier reasons.

    • “Aggressively not for all tastes” is an apt description. It’s an excellent commentary on society and a realistic look at what superheroes would actually be like.
