  2. Platoon has been on my to-watch list since I was a kid.

    My dad served in Vietnam near the guys portrayed in the film so he could never bring himself to watch it.

  3. So, Castle In The Sky hadn’t gotten a release in the US as of these Academy Awards. It didn’t get a US release until Disney licensed the Ghibli catalog for distribution (and the entire catalog outside of the one short that Miyazaki has disowned, and the shorts that are exclusive to the museum, didn’t get released until the rights moved to GKids).
