Trek 11 Information Misreported?

According to Empire, J. J. Abrams has stated the information about Star Trek XI was released without the consent of anybody actually involved in the production. It seems that he is producing a Trek movie, and ‘has the option to direct it’, but isn’t saying anything on what it will actually be about. He doesn’t rule out the Kirk and Spock story, but there is hope again.

  1. I remember a rumor a while back …
An idea was mentioned that allowed all three Enterprise captains to meet, and work together. Suddenly Kirk and Spock: The Early Years might not be such a terrible thing.

Who knows, maybe Berman isn’t really out in the cold …

    Ugh.

While "Yesterday’s Enterprise" is one of the best set of epidodes from TNG, I have to agree with you. All three Enterprises at once sounds like a really bad idea.

Why can’t they just come up with a simple, tight story within the Star Trek universe and make a movie from that.

The ideas that are being thrown around as "good concepts" for Trek XI make me shudder.

Here here! Wouldn’t it be nice if the Trek people realised that what the fans really want is a GOOD STORY.

Personally I don’t care what characters are in it – and if they’re all or mostly new, then actually so much the better. Less continuity for them to stamp all over.

  2. Trek 11 Information Misreported?
I think the major bit of misreporting is that anyone cares that Trek 11 is being made…

  3. Trilogy?
What I would like to see (assuming they can get descent writers) is a story arc spanning more than one movie. I find that the events in the these recent movies (with maybe the exception of ST8) don’t really impact ST universe. I would like to see 3 movies, each with it’s own story line, but where all 3 deal with a common crisis which comes to a conclusion with the 3rd movie.

Maybe it’s time to start another Save Trek letter-writing campaign, this time to save Trek from crummy movie ideas.

I think you’re totally on the money with the trilogy thing. I’d be as happy as a pig in you-know-what if they did a GOOD Romulan war trilogy. Even a good Borg trilogy. Bring back the Traveller. What ever happened to Guynan? I always liked Q.

Soooo many great things that could be done with a trilogy. We don’t need a massive-budget production, just a good script and enough special effects to preserve the magic of film.
