Finally, the picks of the week. Alex says, “While there are some very good other picks for UHD films this week, I think the Dracula Legacy collection takes it. Otherwise, I’m going with the digital release of Mirror Crack’d. Look, y’all have watched Murder She Wrote, you know Angela Lansbury can do Miss Marple.” Blaine says, “I agree with all of Alex’s picks, and throw in Bride of Frankenstein, the first sequel in Hollywood history to surpass the original.”

  1. Man that’s a lot of airports. Kinda tempted to watch the one that “inspired” Airplane!

The Apartment is a good classic movie.

Fire Maidens from Outer Space loos like my kind of horrible.

Those pre-code movies might be interesting, too.

This Is Spinal Tap is one of my all time favourite movies, but I have never watched the sequel…

    • I was just thinking the same thing about Airport 75. I think I’ve seen Airplane! a few dozen times, but never the “source material”.

  2. Elio is…merely OK. They speed past his rationale for wanting to be abducted and they go too easy on the aunt having to put her dreams aside to care for him. There’s a much better movie inside there that just didn’t make it on screen. The voice cast is pretty good. Pixar is leaning away from big name celebrities and using proper voice talent which is a huge improvement. The Kate Mulgrew cameo was perfect.

I’m doubly disappointed as the continued lack of success with original films and the mountains of money Pixar makes from sequels means they are going to be leaning much harder on retreads and less on original content. That said, Inside Out 2 was brilliant and revisiting Riley’s emotions as she ages makes sense. But do we really need Toy Story 5 or Coco 2 (this latter one feels almost insulting as the first one was emotionally perfect as-is)?
