Comments The Kinji Fukasatsu film which is back in the entertainment news after Quentin Tarantino went on an extended rant on a podcast about Hunger Games plagurized this film and the book it was based on (for the record – it didn’t, but I see a general cultural unwillingness to watch foreign films – particularly ones that don’t have a dub – being a reason why this movie or the novel it was based on didn’t break into the larger cultural zeitgeist more).

Finally, the picks of the week. Alex says, “I think most parents (and people who were kids when the film came out) are going to want to go with Emperor’s New Groove, with the UHD release of Dogma being strong contender for an alternative pick for a lot of people as well. On the Anime side, I’m going for Spice & Wolf – that’s an anime series that I enjoyed watching as it aired, and was also able to re-watch with my parents – who also enjoyed it.” Blaine says, “I would also put Dogma and Emperor’s New Groove as the top two picks, although I’d put Dogma on top.”

  1. The Blues Brothers is one of my all time favourite movies.

Top Secret! is the “forgotten” Z/A/Z movie, for some reason. It is very good also.

  2. Alex, I’ll back you on Kitt’s performance in Emperor’s New Groove.

They really need a ride at one of the Disney parks inspired by the flume ride to the lab.
