Finally, the picks of the week. Alex says, “My 4K pick is Excalibur. While it is a fanservice comedy, 2.5 Dimensional Seducation as my anime pick, because it’s also a fairly sweet and almost wholesome anime series.” Blaine says, “for my pick of the week, I’m going with Dogma.”
Wow, I haven’t heard the name Loopy De Loop since I was a kid. It’s one of those cartoon that… well, really isn’t memorable but was on all the time.
Wait, there’s a Spaceballs animated series??? Oh my god that looks awful.
It was made for Spike TV.
Ugh. I watched a few episodes and boy does it show.
The sad thing is it’s pretty close to being funny. It’s Spaceballs-in-name-only, with every episode being a parody of something different and not at all related to the plot of the movie. Or previous episodes.
But it’s so… misogynistic and sexist that it’s just uncomfortable to watch.
“misogynistic and sexist”
So par for the course on Spike?
Very much so.
Tank Girl was a favorite of mine.
Dogma is probably my favorite Kevin Smith movie. As a recovering Catholic, I get it (and the liturgical teachings in the movie are based on real Church doctrine).
Network is on my list of “why haven’t I seen this yet?” movies.
