Finally, the picks of the week. Alex says, “I’m really interested in the UHD release of Bullet in the Head, because it’s a film in a particular stripe of John Woo’s filmography that I particularly like – when he’s merging the epic and the crime thriller. That said, otherwise there’s a lot of Studio Ghibli films here, with quality releases, which looking at the packaging matches their last Ghibli steelbook release, so if there’s a gap in your collection, not only can fill that gap, but if you built up your collection during the last set of steelbook releases, you should be reasonably confident that everything will match.” Blaine says, “It’s a tough call between Dead Poets Society and Forbidden Planet. Both are excellent, but they are different enough it’s hard to pick one over the other.”

One reply

  1. A lot of people don’t know that Howl’s Moving Castle is based on a book, and I’m going to highly recommend the book (and frankly everything else by the author, Diana Wynne Jones). The movie completely neglects a lot of what makes the book great, and for absolutely no reason. Then again, adapting Diana Wynne Jones’ whimsical writing style would be difficult regardless.
