Now that 2001 is officially on its way out, Warner Brothers is finally getting around to re-releasing a “digitally enhanced” version of the Kubrick classic “2001: A Space Odyssey.” According to the press release, though, it looks like it’ll only be released in a few cities, and I’m not near any of ’em.
DVD Release
Does this mean that they will reissue the DVD with the enhanced picture and sound?
Re: DVD Release
I don’t know. This was supposed to happen for New Year’s Day this year, in which case that version of the film would be used on the DVD. They got slowed down a bit, and postponed the release until after the summer competition, so it’s possible that the souped-up version is the ine that was transferred onto the DVDs in the latest Kubrick box set. I’ll look into it.
