Doctor Who Discussion: The Lazarus Experiment

The Doctor takes Martha home. They don’t just sit down for tea and biscuits.

No episode next week due to the final of the Eurovision Song Contest.

[1] Just…. what is it with Mothers (of the maternal type)
    [2] Family, go figure.
[3] Thought it was a little unusual for the spooky… were they Torchwood?? Given that Torchwood London hasn’t been rebuild (at least according to the folks under the pavement in Cardiff) should be bad mouthing a firendly alien like the Doctor or is this someone related to the Bad Wolf theme that was never resolved?
[4] in the trailer for the next episode…. how did they know he’s a Time Lord??
[5] Two Weeks – Eurovision Song Content!!??!!

That trailer was longer (and less coherent) than usual – I think it’s a bunch of snippets from the rest of this series, not just next week.

My bet is that that’s what the Scooby gang used to call, a clue.

Mr. Saxon (the guy who warned Martha’s mother) is played by a popular british actor, and will be back later in this season. I’m really hoping that he’s another returnee from the Doctor’s past…

        I’m hoping he’s a timelord. Though, not necessarily a good one….

Wild net speculation: Check out anagrams of "Mister Saxon"

Ah! Good one. I figured it was him, but just from the context, not the anagrammarality.

Why no. Six though? I thought he went through his 13 regens… unless it’s a Prisoner/Galactica nod.

I got my information from wikipedia, that great reliable source of information. Maybe the No 6 refers to the number of potrayals of him on the show?

I was hoping The Rani would show up and insist on she and the Doctor rebuilding the Time Lord race.

Spoilerizing the whole thing this week since in haste I didn’t spoilerize last week:

The trailer and one seemingly minor character are getting more discussion than the current episode. That said, I enjoyed the current episode.

On to the trailer/character: I would be shocked if the Master *didn’t* somehow survive the Time War. After all, he was intensely self-serving, egomaniacal, and his own people cast him out. Why would he want to die with them? I could actually see him colluding with the Daleks to give them inside information about Time Lord technologies so they would have a battle advantage.

THE MASTER MAY BE COMING BACK! Coolest. :)

Decent story this week I thought, not terribly original (Jekyll and Hyde again) but it worked pretty well. The Doc’s bit about long life not being all it’s cracked up to be was good, and it’s always nice to see Mavis from Corry :) RTD seems to be working his way through the cast of dinnerladies, interesting casting strategy there!

Special effects were a bit dodgy but we’re used to that ;)

Personal moan – I know we can’t expect too much in the way of scientific accuracy, but I do wish someone would give RTD a crash course in how DNA actually works. There’s a myriad of pseudoscientific explanations to choose from, and the powers ascribed to DNA in the last couple of stories were pretty ridiculous.

Personal moan 2 – can we go somewhere different now? If I want to see 20th century London yet again I’ll catch a train..

Actually to see 20th century London, you’d actually need a TARDIS, 21st century London, however, for you is apparently right down the line ;-).

I do agree with you though and would like to see a new exotic location again, and from the previews it appears that some action in space is coming.
