Weekly Digital Disc Picks – July 31, 2007

There are some excellent titles out this week, including new Babylon 5.

Finally, the pick of the week. I’ve got to go with the Popeye set. The Fleischer studios went under because Max and Dave were artists, not businessmen. The quality of their product was head and shoulders above their contemporaries. In my opinion, it took Disney and Warner decades to catch up to where the Fleischers were in the 1930s. If you’ve got Disney Treasures from the era, or the black and white Looney Tunes, compare them to this set and see if you agree.

    Hot Fuzz
    Hot Fuzz was pretty good, although the ending was total change-up/surprise.

    The trailer for the new B5 one honestly looks to be up on quality than some of the latter work JMS did, here’s hoping it is.

      It’s very… talky. Granted, that’s JMS’ style, but it seems a bit excessive even by his usual standards.
