Is this the original show?
I started getting this show a few years back on the intarwebs. Is this the same show? I never did see the completion of it. It seemed to just peter off. Was it cancelled? Was this ep1?

This is the same show. It had a full season of 20 episodes (+1 recap ep) but was not renewed for a second season.
Yes, the series does wander towards the middle of the season but comes together again towards the end. I’ve seen a post stating that new writers were brought in around ep 9 which might explain it.

FYI: The Slice of Sci-Fi podcast has an interview with the co-creator and executive producer Robert Wertheimer who mentioned that the reason for no season two was more of an issue with how it was funded, and the requirements of that funding. Interesting interview and one of my favorite podcasts.
Loved this show
I watched all 20 or so episodes a few years back. I love this show. It is one of the smartest, best written things I have ever seen written for television.
Somewhere in the middle they throw in a few episodes that feel like filler, but give it a chance.
The writers had forewarning that the 20 episodes might be the end so they were able to write a satisfying ending to it. I only wish there was a continuation in video or in print so I could find out what happens in this (these) worlds next.
I’m glad it’s come to the US so there will be a renewed interest in it and maybe some more discussions going on about it.
Be warned, the camera work and effects go for a stylized affect that felt a bit amateurish to me. But the story and characters made up for it. It’s a very adult story with bad things happening to good and bad people.

Bureau42 was one of the first places to have a complete set of reviews of this show. One of the writers even contacted us about it.
