This is a light week. The real blitz of the summer starts with the TV seasons that hit in late August, and then it doesn’t really let up until after Christmas.
First, the DVD releases:
- 21 (Single Disc Edition)
- 21 (Two Disc Special Edition)
- 100 Comedy Classics: 100 movies in one set. No indication of which they are, though.
- 100 Family Favorites: 100 movies in one set. Gems all, I’m sure.
- The Adventures of Teddy Ruxpin: Episodes 41-65: This completes the series.
- Bird
- Bleach Vol. 1 Manga and DVD Bundle
- Bleach Vol. 11
- Earth – The Biography
- High and Low – Criterion Collection
- Kiss of the Spider Woman (Two-Disc Collector’s Edition)
- L.A. Ink: Season 1
- Las Vegas: Searson Five
- Masters of Horror: Season Two
- Picture This!
- Robot Chicken: Star Wars
- Spaced: The Complete Series
- The Superhero
- Transformers Cybertron: The Ultimate Collection
- Vampyr – Criterion Collection
Now, the Blu-Ray releases:
- 21
- Earth: The Biography
- The Exorcism of Emily Rose
- I Know What You Did Last Summer
- The Mummy: The Brendan Fraser version.
- The Mummy Returns
- The Perfect Storm
- The Scorpion King
- Urban Legend
Finally, the pick of the week. I don’t recommend things I haven’t seen, and the only titles I’ve seen on this list didn’t impress me. The ones I want to see, based on reputations, are High and Low, Vampyr, Kiss of the Spider-Woman and the Robot Chicken release.
Spaced!
Spaced is simply awesome, go get it. It shows much of what would become Edgar Wright and Simon Pegg’s trademarks in "Shawn of the Dead" and "Hot Fuzz".

Masters of Horror Packaging
I just had to comment on how cool the packaging for Masters of Horror looks.
I told my wife I’d be half tempted to let her buy it just for that alone. She liked several of the episodes this season, but I’m not sure it was enough to warrant purchasing the entire season.
