Millar and Gough now to write “Robotech”

Cinema Confidential is reporting that the Hollywood Reporter (print edition – it’s not on the web site yet, I checked) is reporting that Smallville creators Miles Millar and Alfred Gough are now attached as writers to the upcoming Robotech project, taking over writing duties from Empire Strikes Back director writer Lawrence Kasdan.

AceCaseOR: Fixed my error there – thanks for letting me know, Madgnome

On the one hand, lots of writers working on a film is never a good sign. On the other hand, consider the big Hunter-Hayes-Minmei (or Ichijyo-Hayase-Minmei) triangle, they might (might) fit. We’ll see when we get a director and more of the cast (Producer Toby Maguire has his eye on the Rick Hunter role – no word yet on Hayes and Minmei.)

  1. Robotech Needs More Emo!
Yeah, no. Lawrence Kasdan wrote the best Star Wars screenplay, so it’s a shame he’s off this project/being rewritten. Maybe they decided his writing was too adult?

  2. Kasden directed ESB?
I think Irvin Kershner would disagree. :)

For ESB, Kasden was brought in the finish Leigh Brackett’s script after she died of cancer. Kasden then wrote the script for ROTJ.

Thanks for letting me know, the article has been corrected.
