My anime knowledge is quite limited. Most of the martial arts and Anime picks this week (and all of the comments about them) are courtesy our local anime expert, AceCaseOR.
First, the DVD releases:
- Appaloosa
- Ben 10: Alien Force, Season One, Vol. 2
- Breakfast at Tiffany’s – Paramount Centennial Collection
- Dallas: Complete Season Ten
- Family That Preys
- Funny Face – Paramount Centennial Collection
- Ghost in the Shell: Volume 2: Innocence: I can’t tell the difference between the two released versions based on Amazon.com’s descriptions. This is more expensive, and has cover art consistent with Blu-Ray, so if one version has extra content, it’ll be this one.
- Ghost in the Shell: Volume 2: Innocence: I can’t tell the difference between the two released versions based on Amazon.com’s descriptions.
- Glass Fleet: Box Set: Series brick of a space opera series from Studio Gonzo.
- Gundam Seed Destiny Anime Legends, Vol. 1
- Gundam Seed Destiny: TV Movie 4
- House of Payne, Vol. 3
- Little Britain USA
- Lovejoy, Season Four
- Lyrical Nanoha A: Season Set: Second Season of the Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha series.
- Mahoromatic: Collection 1: Anime about a boy and his robot maid (who will, IIRC, stop functioning in a year or so – technically meaning she’s dying).
- Matlock: Season Two
- Megazone 23: Complete Collection
- Mirrors
- Moonphase: Box Set
- My Best Friend’s Girl
- My Bloody Valentine
- Reba: Season Five
- Rossellini’s Film History – Renaissance and Enlightenment – Eclipse Series 14
- Saint Seiya: Collection 1: Shonen series in the vein of Ronin Warriors (for that matter, this was probably what inspired Ronin Warriors).
- Saxondale: Complete Seasons 1 and 2
- Shut Up And Shoot!
- Supercop: Yes, this has been released before, but this is being released under the Dragon Dynasty label – which means the original Cantonese performances are finally available (instead of dubbing with different actors), and it’s available in the original aspect ratio (instead of a full-screen version).
- Swing Vote
- The Taking of Power by Louis XIV – Criterion Collection
- Til Death: Complete Second Season
- Underworld and Underworld: Evolution
- Voltron: Volume 7
- Walker, Texas Ranger: Season Six
- Wedding Peach Season 2: Another Magical Girl series.
- Without A Paddle: Nature’s Calling: A direct to DVD sequel without any of the original cast. Yeah, that’s promising.
- WWE Starrcade: The Essential Collection
- Yu Yu Hakusho: Season Four
Now, the Blu-Ray releases:
- Appaloosa
- Death At A Funeral
- Ghost In The Shell 2: Innocence
- Mirrors
- My Best Friend’s Girl
- Stargate: Ark of Truth: New to Blu-Ray, previously released on DVD.
- Superhero Movie
- Swing Vote
- Traffic: The Stephen Soderbergh drug trade film.
- Without A Paddle: Nature’s Calling
Finally, the pick of the week. I’d go with Traffic if you support Blu-Ray, or Supercop if you don’t (not that the two are even remotely similar.) AceCaseOR would go with Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence.
