Smallville and Supernatural Get New Seasons

obiwan writes, This link tells us that Supernatural and Smallville are getting renewed.

Smallville?

How in the world to they plan to keep it up? Season eight has been more enjoyable than recent seasons, but that’s because they’re moving things forward. There’s a definite expiry date on the series, though, as they either stop marching towards the end or get him to where he needs to be and end the series.

Yep, 5 years, that’s how long Smallville will run. Trust us, we have to wrap the story up in 5 years. Oh and Clark won’t fly and Superman won’t come to be until the last episode.

I’m not sure what happened this year because I quit watching. So some of these things may have happened, but I wouldn’t know. When you promise to tie up a story and give it an ending, DO IT!

Or maybe the Smallville producers just count 1,2,3,4,5,5,5,5,5….

The first part of this season really took a turn for the better. This last arc with Lana wasn’t as good as the earlier parts, but that seems to be done and overwith as well.

Part of me was hoping they’d wrap it up and be done with it this year, but as long as it’s a CW ratings cash cow, they’ll milk it as long as they can. If they drop their "no tights, no flights" moratorium, it could open up so much more.

So will the series end with Superman finally taking flight from the porch of the Smallville Retirement Home?

  2. Why won’t Smallville end?
My wife and I quit watching it a few seasons ago as it was dragging on and on. The writers had seemed to hit a wall, perhaps due to the studio wanting more. It’s worse than what happened with X-Files in my opinion.

Good to hear Supernatural is coming back. That show works well as one off episodes and as long as there are decent stories it will continue to work.
