The Next Interesting Movie?

Now that the two biggest genre films of the summer
(Spider-Man and Attack Of The
Clones
) have been out for a while, the other
summer genre films can get some well-deserved
attention. Which is the next genre film you’re most
excited about? (For a list, check out this
article

    The best is to come
Although Star Wars Ep. 2 was a lot better than I thought it would be, I think the best is yet to come. I’m almost certain that The Two Towers will be better than Episode 2, and then there is Star Trek X.

Star Trek X will rock. I think almost or at least much as Episode 2.

I think “Signs” (Mel gibson) will be cool, and MIB2 may be good.

    2002. It was a good year…

In terms of anticipation, Star Trek: Nemesis is definitely tops on my list, especially since it’s been so long since we’ve had really good Trek. In fact, the last time I got really excited/emotional about it was the DS9 finale.

Two Towers promises to leave us breathless (as did Fellowship). MIB2 will be fun, as long as it doesn’t degrade into a stream of “I don’t remember that” jokes.

The kid in me is also really excited about Scooby-Doo (opening Friday). It won’t be Shakespeare, but then, who cares?

I almost forgot “Eight-Legged Freaks.” Looks like fun, “Tremors” style.

    Signs
MIB2 should be decent, but the one I’m really waiting for is ‘Signs’. Even if it doesn’t end up being a ‘genre’ film, it should be great if it’s anything like M. Night Shyamalan’s previous movies (The Sixth Sense and Unbreakable).

Knowing that crop circles are a big hoax, I’m having a hard time taking Signs seriously. I’m sure it’ll be a great movie (loved 6th Sense and Unbreakable), but the previews just make me snicker.

    Its Got To Be Signs
While the next movie I plan on seeing is MiB2… which fingers crossed should be a reall laugh, the next movie I’m eagerly looking forward to is Signs.

I’m a big fan of the directors previous two movies, having both Sixth Sense and Unbreakable on DVD. While I think the “twist” obsession he has is limiting his storytelling, I love his cinematic style, attention to detail and perhaps best of all the fact that he is prepared to tell a story slowly… a very rare trait in directors these days.

Now my wife… she just wants to see Mel Gibson. ;)

    Scooy Doo!
I grew up loving the cartoon, and am ecstatic to see the movie, even if it does star that Whats-His-Face-Teen-Star-That-Usually-Makes-Crappy-Movies. Even so, I plan to be at the theatre Friday afternoon to see it.

I’m also pretty excited about seeig MiB II, though not as much because I’ll have to wait 3 weeks after its release to see it when I get home from vacation in New Zealand. And vacation wll be a bit more excitig that seeing a movie, I dare say.

I remember seeing a trailer for Signs, and it didn’t seem to catch my interest that much.

    MIB2
MIB2 is my vote for the next movie coming out that I’m excited about. Sure, I want to see Scooby Doo and Signs, but MIB2 is at the top of my list. Trek X and The Two Towers are also on my list, but they’re not until later this year so I can’t quite say they’re on my “next movie to see” list. They will be in a couple of months, though.

I read what may have been an early draft of the Trek X script and I gotta say…[neo]whoa[/neo]…provided they correct the mistakes.

I Just Wanted To Toss My hat In On This One. It Looks Pretty Good, For ‘Cheap Sci-Fi’ (Read Non-Big-Budget).

The Other Movies Listed Also Look Good, MIBII, LOTR:TTT, And Scooby. I Can’t Get Into Signs Cause I Know They Were A Hoax, And I Wasn’t A Huge Fan Of The Sixth Sense, And Didn’t See unbreakable.

    movies
It’s a big year. After Blade II and Scorpion King, we got Spider-Man and AOTC. Soon we’ll have Minority Report, Reign of Fire, Signs, and MIIB. At the end of the year we merely have The Two Towers, another Harry Potter, and another Star Trek.

Good year for sci-fi movies, bad year for sci-fi television.

I plan to see Minority Report next. The effects look good.
