Heroes of 2004

According to this
Cinescape article
, 2004 will see the release of
the Batman vs. Superman movie. With the
sequel to Spider-Man already scheduled for
the first Friday in May of that year, it looks like
it’ll be the third consecutive year for big superhero
movies. (We’ve got Spider-Man this year,
Daredevil, The Hulk, and X-Men
2
next year, and Spider-Man 2,
Batman vs. Superman, and possibly Ghost
Rider
and Fantastic Four in 2004.)

    Reeve as Superman
If they could find a way to work Christopher Reeve into the role of an “old and broken” Superman, they really should. How awesome would it be for them to have the story show some massive conflict in the beginning (in flashback form if necessary, with lots of effects since Reeve can’t walk) showing the fall of Superman and the cause of his current state. Then somehow a younger fella comes in to take his place and fight alongside the existing Batman (or even a younger more inexperienced Bruce Wayne who just takes on the Batman persona. Reeve can play the “here’s how you do it fellas” role, and these two wippersnappers go off fighting evil. It could be awesome if done well. And it would be great to see Reeve in the role that made him famous, even if he can’t don the blue suit and red cape.

Superman is super because he’s an alien. Unless his twin brother suddenly comes tooting along in a spaceship, there can’t be any Superman replacement.

On A /. Comment, Someone Mentioned That Matt Damon Was Considered For One Of The Rolls. After Seeing ben Afflec In The Daredevil Costume, I Think He’d Make A Decent Batman. I’m Sure They Could Get Kevin Smith Into It, Since He’s Writen For Both Characters Before, And That’d Turn Into One Awsome Movie.

The “Matt Damon” thing may be taken out of context. In
the full press release, Peterson said that things are
changing and people are willing to accept new action
heroes, and he cited Matt Damon as an example. Then he
went on to say that he’d cast unknowns in this movie, and
can have the roles filled in 2-4 weeks.
