We can post a discussion for Sonic the Hedgehog, if anyone asks, and we’ll have a review soon of The Invisible Man, see? But for now, we’re reviewing a Disney family movie that opened to… a disappointing box office. The Call of the Wild isn’t exactly our usual genre, but this adaptation does feature Harrison Ford and a LOT of CGI.

And I’m willing to bet quite a few people who check in on this site have read Jack London’s most famous work. If you haven’t, you probably should.

The latest DC super-movie opened, a sequel to Suicide Squad that also functions as an origin for Birds of Prey. It under-performed at the box office on its first weekend and played to mixed reviews.

We haven’t done a Weekend Review of an older film for some time, so here’s one for 2020, a film that, after numerous delays, finally saw release last summer, but found its biggest audience on AmazonPrime. David Robert Mitchell got notice for his first feature, The Myth of the American Sleepover, and then he wrote and directed a brilliant and very successful horror film called It Follows. He was apparently given a free reign and significant budget for this project, which blends indie comedy, neo-Noir, conspiracy theory, and urban fantasy, with interesting, but decidedly mixed, results.¹
