Brutal Legend Lawsuit Settled
The LA Times is reporting that Activision has settled their lawsuit with Double Fine which attempted to block or delay the release of Brutal Legend, after statements from the judge prior to their hearing indicated that his ruling was likely not going to be favorable to Activision in the slightest. Brutal Legend Ruling Delayed
1up.com is reporting that due to a full docket, the date for the ruling on Activision’s attempt to block or delay the release of Brutal Legend has been delayed until August 6th. However, according to reports, the judge has said “isn’t inclined to delay Brutal Legend’s release.” Continue reading →
DoubleFine Counter-Sues Activision Over Brutal Legend
We previously covered (and commented on) Activision’s lawsuit against DoubleFine Productions and EA to block the release of their game Brutal Legend, which Activision dropped when they bought out Vivendi. Well, Gamasutra is reporting that DoubleFine is striking back with a counter-suit, saying that Activision is (among other things) trying to kill the project to protect the Guitar Hero franchise (an argument that bears some merit – EA is the publisher of Rock Band – and Brutal Legend has the likenesses of Ozzy Osborne & Lemmy Kilmeister, who also appear in Guitar Hero: World Tour & Guitar Hero: Metallica, respectively.) So, the mess surrounding Brutal Legend is far from over, but will hopefully get resolved sooner rather than later. *Knocks on wood.*
Activision-Blizzard Sues To Block Release of EA’s Brütal Legend
Kotaku is reporting that Activision-Blizzard is suing EA to prevent them from releasing Brütal Legend, the fantasy & metal themed action/adventure/RTS game from Tim Schafer, the creator of Psychonauts, as well as a lot of Lucasarts adventure games (including Day of the Tentacle, and the Monkey Island games).
