If you like horror or art films, go shopping this week.
First, the DVD releases:
- Aquarian Age, Vol. 2: Complete Collection
- Baby Mama
- Essential Art House: Beauty and the Beast: Criterion transfer with no special features. This version currently ranked #190 on the IMDB list of the top 250 movies of all time. Also available in this new box set and this old and hard to budget for box set. I managed to pick up a copy of the big box set a couple of years back and love it.
- The Big Lebowski – 10th Anniversary Edition: Regular packaging
- The Big Lebowski – 10th Anniversary Limited Edition: Packaged in a bowling ball. No, I’m not kidding.
- Child’s Play: Chucky’s 20th Birthday edition
- Cool Hand Luke (Deluxe Edition)
- C.S.I. Miami – The Sixth Season
- DIC’s Animated Christmas Blast
- Escape From The Newsroom: A made for TV movie continuing the series.

Also available in this new box set and this old and hard to budget for box set. I managed to pick up a copy of the big box set a couple of years back and love it.
- Grey’s Anatomy: The Complete Fourth Season
- A Haunting: Season Four
- A Haunting: Seasons 1-4
- House of the Dead: Erica Durance fans should watch the first few minutes on mute. All other viewers can ignore this Uwe Boll flick.
- How The West Was Won (Two-Disc Special Edition)
- How The West Was Won (Ultimate Collector’s Edition)
- It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia: Season 3
- Keeping Up Appearances: The Full Bouquet
- Essential Art House: Knife in the Water: Criterion transfer with no special features. Ranked 7.6/10 on the IMDB. Also available in this new box set and this old and hard to budget for box set. I managed to pick up a copy of the big box set a couple of years back and love it.
- Legion of Super-Heroes Vol. 3
- Essential Art House: Lord of the Flies: Criterion transfer with no special features. Ranked 7.1/10 on the IMDB. Also available in this new box set and this old and hard to budget for box set. I managed to pick up a copy of the big box set a couple of years back and love it.

- The Outlaw Josey Wales
- Pet Sematary

- The Raccoons – Series 1 – Gift Set: I enjoyed this Canadian cartoon as a child, but I’m scared to watch it again now and ruin the memory.
- The Raccoons – Series 2 – Gift Set: I enjoyed this Canadian cartoon as a child, but I’m scared to watch it again now and ruin the memory.
- Essential Art House: Rashomon: Criterion transfer with no special features. Currently ranked #69 in the IMDB’s greatest movies of all time. Also available in this new box set and this old and hard to budget for box set. I managed to pick up a copy of the big box set a couple of years back and love it.
- The Ring
- Shuffle, Vol. 6
- Shuffle Vol. 6 with Ender Box
- Sleepy Hollow: This is the Tim Burton version.
- Smallville – The Complete Seventh Season: Season eight starts on September 18, with Doomsday, but without Michael Rosenbaum, Kristin Kreuk, Miles Miller or Alfred Gough. I’ll keep reviewing it each week (probably on weekends) but I wouldn’t bet on a season nine given the behind the scenes changes.
- Something Beneath: For those who wonder what Kevin Sorbo’s been up to lately. (If you are, I highly reccomend the second season of Psych instead. Sorbo had a guest spot in one episode.)
- Species Collection: All four movies on five disks.
- Spectacular Spider-Man: Attack of the Lizard: This is a one volume, three episode release. The show’s actually surprisingly good, but I plan to wait for the complete season set that Warner Home Video has announced intentions to make with no firm release date that I’ve heard. It’ll be after the whole season is available individually, though.
- The Sylvester and Tweety Mysteries: The Complete First Season
- To The Manor Born: The Complete Series
- Ugly Betty – The Complete Second Season
- What Lies Beneath
- Essential Art House: Wild Strawberries: Criterion transfer with no special features. Currently #138 on the IMDB top 250 list. Also available in this new box set and this old and hard to budget for box set. I managed to pick up a copy of the big box set a couple of years back and love it.
- Wings – The Seventh Season
- xxxHOLIC: Fifth Collection
- Zodiac
Now, the Blu-Ray releases:
- Baby Mama

- The Forbidden Kingdom
- Grey’s Anatomy: The Complete Fourth Season
- How The West Was Won
- Kill Bill Vol. 1
- Kill Bill Vol. 2
- Kill Bill – Volumes 1 and 2: The bundle is exclusive to Amazon.com, but they’re individually available in all the usual places.
- Rudy
- Smallville – The Complete Seventh Season
Finally, the pick of the week. I’m going with the Essential Art House Vol. 1 box set. That’s a great set of movies with some excellent video and audio transfers.
Justice League: Season One
I got Justice League: Season One from the library, as recommended in a previous post, and really enjoyed it. Thanks for the suggestion.
