Game of Thrones – Season 2 Midpoint Check In

So tonight’s episode, “The Ghost of Harrenhall” marks the midpoint of Season two. Thus far we’ve heard great things about the adaptation of “A Clash of Kings,” but what really matters, is your opinion!

You know, I just don’t know about this thing.

I’ve been meaning to read the books for a while, and when the show came out I picked up the first 4 and read the first one. Then I watched the first season. And you know, yeah, good drama, well done, naked people etc.

I didn’t read the second book until the second season was imminent. I did read it and I’m, in theory, waiting till I have the whole season before I watch it. But…

You know. I just. I think the second book was not nearly as good as the first, and I’m extremely disturbed by the fact that Martin has not finished the series yet.

I’m actually very worried that this thing will just keep going and have zero payoff. So far there’s been none. It’s just a series of really terrible things happening to people who are either terrible themselves or just plain stupid, with a bunch of terrible sex thrown in between.

I just kinda get the impression that Martin doesn’t really know where he’s going with this either and that each book just keeps going out of sheer momentum.
