Superman: latest rumours

Timeshredder writes, I may have just nodded off and missed this story here, but if I haven’t….

I heard a radio report “confirming” that Ralph Fiennes will play Jor-El and Anthony Hopkins will play Lex Luthor in the Superman film (both have been Net rumours for awhile). They still don’t have an actor for Superman.

Given the number of delays this project has experienced in the past, and the number of times x has been “confirmed” to play y, they could easily cast Tom Welling without marring Smallville‘s timeline. Earlier this week, Brett Ratner was removed as director, and no casting was confirmed by Warner Bros. It looks like they’ve decided to make a fresh start with a new script and new crew.

  1. Huh?
If anthony hopkins is going to play Lex Luthor, then someone like ian mckellan will need to play luthor. I thought they were supposedly close to age with each other?

  2. Pull a Star Trek
They should wait ’till the logical conclusion of the current Smallville run (when Clark will put on the suit and leave for Metropolis) and make movies with the current cast then.

On the plus side, no need to introduce everyone!
We get the best Lex ever for more criminal materminding!
    An so forth.

Well, We Get Tom, Who’d Do Well, And My Sister Would Pay The $99 (Assuming Standard Movie Fare Inflation) If They Promised He’d Have his Shirt Off.

Also, Asides From Lex, Not Many Other People Would Carry Over, Unless It Was Writen Specifically To Include Them. Lois, Jimmy, And Perry Aren’t In Smallville.

Though That Could Make For A Neat Episode, Have Cloe Go To Metropolis To Intern With the Planet, And Come Back And Talk About The Opinion’s Editor, Perry White.

  3. Don’t need an actor
If you think about it, they really don’t need an actor to play Superman. See what they’ve done with the upcomming Hulk movie. All they need is a stand-in. They program the body movements into a computer and output any appearance they want. Would make for more freedom with special effects. Plus, what are they going to do for a script? They already a generic Superman with that english actor. Where do they go from here? Remake of remake?
