Good Episode – Always Appreciate Bruce
Every episode that features Bruce prominently is better for it, and making Louis Gossett his preacher father was an excellent choice (he doesn’t seem to get much A-level work in the last few years, which is a shame).

I enjoyed that they used this episode to finally give themselves their excuse for straying from the book (not that they absolutely needed one – it’s an ongoing TV show, after all), plus they’ve alleviated a bit the anxiety that we already know the ending and so will be cheated when the series finally ends with John trying to whack Stillson at the rally. This aspect was even more amusing to me because the promos made it seem like they were ending it exactly as the story ended in the other media and I was expecting to be annoyed by an episode that just covered ground with which I was already familiar.

If nothing else, I would have enjoyed this episode because once again it’s not over. :)

    My only complaint…
My only complaint is that they aired it out of order. If Bruce hadn’t cut his hair, the difference might not have been so noticable. Playing God (Last week’s episode) was supposed to have been the finale.

They also completely skipped an episode. There were only 12 this season instead of 13. An episode titled “The Hunt For Osama” was unaired (For reasons we can make random guesses at…) That episode was originally slated for two or three weeks ago.

This episode does neatly explain the differences from the book, and keeps in theme with what John has discovered – change one detail, and the whole outcome is different.

Yeah, the hair thing was a bit annoying, but I think they realized too late that this was a better finale than Playing God (at least I thought it was), both in terms of content and promotion.
