Apparently it’s not just us
Scifigod writes, Activision is now suing Viacom for breach of contract for “Lack of Support for ‘Star Trek’ Movie and Television Franchise and Failure to Cooperate With Activision”. Activision currently has several licensing deals for Video game production based on Star Trek and it’s companions.

I’ll just stand over here and smirk, contentedly.
Lemme get this straight…
Is this “agreement” that Activision terminated the game liscensing agreement? Then that would mean that there will be no future Star Trek games from them, right? Pretty smooth that they do this right after Elite Force 2 hits shelves…
Also explains…
lol
Sucks so much they are getting sued over it! Lovely.
Sigh…I used to love ST.
Wow…
After Reading the Last Paragraph, I’m Thinking The Lawyers Need To Get Their Hands Out OF Everything.
But Also, ti SOunds Less Like a good Lawsuit. Basically, They’re Not Pissed Because Viacom’s Releasing Crap, But Because They’re Not Releasing Enough, Crap Or Otherwise.
That, And Using Using the Phrase ‘Exploiting’ Makes Me Cringe.
Re: Wow…
The article also says “the remaining series suffers from weak
ratings”…wich is a result of its crapiness.
Basically, ST fandom is dying and they think Viacom is directly
resposible. I tend to agree (keeping a certain Berman in controll is an
actionable offense it seems…ain’t that nice to hear).
Now the question is, will Viacom cut its losses and pull the plug, or will
they come to their senses, fire (and possibly beat and whip) B&B, and
find people willing to bring back the old trek goodness. They could be
swimming in geek monnies, but they had to go for the lowest common
denominator. Glad to see its bitig them in the ass.
What?!!!
You mean they cancelled Enterprise: Elite Decon Gel Rubdowns??? Damnit! Damnit! Damnit!
I was soooo looking forward to that game. Hoshi and T’Pol were going to be seriously contaminated and have to spend hours in decon rubbing gel on each oth…….
If anyone needs me, I’ll be in my bunk.
Viacom responds!
Viacom issued a public statement in
response to a suit by game publisher Activision
Viacom added that “Star Trek continues to enjoy widespread popularity
and success throughout the world.”
Yeah…right.
Rule #1
NEVER read, watch or eat anything that get’s referred to as a "franchise".
Think… "MacBook"…"MacMovie"…
I’m tickled over the lawsuit though …. I know a place where they can find TONS of "expert witnesses" to testify gainst B&B’s utter incompetence.
Penny Arcade
Those wacky geeks at Penny Arcade have
a strip about the Viacom/Activision lawsuit.
Some pretty funny/insightfull comments on the main page’s post and
subsequent incoherant ramblings too.
