J. Michael Straczynski just pointed the
rec.arts.comics.marvel.universe newsgroup to an
online version
of his Supreme
Power #1. It seems that, despite selling over 100,000
copies, there’s just not enough out there to meet demand. If you
missed the dead tree version, here’s your chance to catch up!
(WARNING: Adult content.)
I can see why it sold 100k
Considering that it’s basically a riff on Superman, JMS did a very good job with this. I’m curious where it’s going from here. They may have gotten at least one more person hooked on it.
Best line?
“I guess spot was the right name, after all.”
Fantastic
I havent sat down and read a comic since I was 12, and I only looked at this out of boredom, but I’m glad I did.
I thought it was great, first time I’ve enjoyed reading a comic in over 11 years!
I must admit to having been a little confused though, I never read the article or the review before following the link so I did think this was an alternate superman universe type thing. And I do agree, the beginning does give that impression.
Is this the only one that is to be available free? I honestly couldn’t think of anywhere local to me that sells comics nowdays…
Re: Fantastic
There are no announced plans to release others for free. Releasing
this one seems to have been a response to the rapid sell-outs of the
paper version, allowing more people to jump on board for the second
issue. As for finding a comic shop near you, try the comic shop locator
service.
