Here are highlights of what we’ll see on September
28.
The genre releases include:
- Battle
of the Planets 25th Anniversary Edition: This
one’s a two DVD set. - Bloodsucking
Redneck Vampires: I’ve never heard of the movie,
the studio, or the star, but the titles sounds pretty
genre to me. - Bram
Stoker’s Dracula / Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein: A
two pack of movies you’ll hear more from us about
later. - Children
of the Corn: Thanks to Family Guy, I can
never see this without thinking of Hanson again. - Christine:
One of the earliest, if not the earliest adaptation
of Stephen King work, starring John Travolta. - Creepshow
2: Another little horror title. - Dr.
Jekyll and Mr. Hyde: Another cheap release of the
1920 adaptation. If you want it, get the Kino
Video release instead. I reviewed an inferior
DVD version here.
Had I reviewed the Kino edition, it would have had a
higher score. - Elvira’s
Box of Horror: Elvira introduces Little Shop
of Horrors, Night of the Living Dead,
House no Haunted Hill,
The Brain the Wouldn’t Die,
and Carnival of Souls. There’s also a
release of Elvira’s
Horror Classics, which includes only House on
Haunted Hill and Night of the Living
Dead. - Eternal
Sunshine of the Spotless Mind: This seems to have
been very well received. It’s another one I’ll have
to see at some point. - Gamera
Limited Edition DVD Box Set: The Japanese monster
classic. - Hunchback
of Notre Dame: Yet another cheap release of the
Lon Chaney classic. I’ve had enough of the cheap
releases, and am waiting for a quality edition. - The
Incredibly Strange Creatures who Stopped Living and
Became Crazy Mixed-Up Zombies: The title says it
all. - Land
of the Lost – Season Two: I still haven’t
finished watching season one. - Nosferatu:
Yet another cheap release. Again, I’d recommend a superior
edition instead. Once more, we’ve got plans for
this movie; watch the Bureau in coming weeks. - Star
Trek Generations: Special Edition: I would swear
this was also listed three weeks ago. - Star
Trek Voyager: Complete Season Four: For those who
enjoyed this series.
The non-genre releases include:
- Charlie
Chaplin Short Comedy Classics – The Complete Restored
Essanay & Mutual Collection: It’s hard to go
wrong with Chaplin - Easy
Rider (35th Anniversary Collection): It was huge
in its time. I’ve never seen it, so I don’t know how
well it holds up. - Footloose
(Special Collector’s Edition): The 1984
classic. - Super
Size Me: I’ve heard wonderful things about
this.
