  1. a let down!
I think they showed us the french broad too soon.

Good backstory on Sayeed. Nice way to leave it hanging. Now we know that there is a nutjob with a gun running around on the island…

  2. A lot of secrets answered

    1. Now we know where to find some power. But what exactly does the cable connect to?
    2. Nice to see Delenn getting some work. (Yes, it’s Mira Furlan – kept trying to figure it out through the entire episode and finally got it during the last scene.)
    3. Well, the “bear” or “monster” has been revealed. (pay close attention to the rifles on the chair) Makes total sense, except for the lack of noise the “monster” makes.
    4. Is Danielle totally insane? And is the disease she spoke of totally metaphorical or partially physical? If so, what about the “new” guy, the hypochondriac?

Overall, a pretty cool episode. Several secrets revealed, several more hinted at.

Yes, it was great to see her. What is her background? She has such a strange and unique accent.

Argh! I deleted the episode from my TIVO after watching it. Please tell me what I didn’t notice about the rifles on the chair. They kept showing closeups of it, but I figured that just represented Sayid’s focus on getting a rifle.

Is Danielle totally insane? And is the disease she spoke of totally metaphorical or partially physical?

Whatever she is, she certainly ISN’T a simple research scientist as she claims to be. A research scientist’s first reaction isn’t to build an electic torture rack to pry information from a suspicious stranger. And as Sayid said, why would a scientific mission be heavily armed?

If so, what about the “new” guy, the hypochondriac?

I think they are introducing new characters before they run out of people to do backstory episodes on!

        What is her background?

According to IMDB: “A leading actress of theatre, film and TV in the former Yugoslavia, Mira Furlan emigrated to the US with her husband Goran Gajic in November 1991, due to the intolerable political circumstances in her homeland.[…]In the former Yugoslavia Mira was a member of the Croatian National Theatre and a frequent guest star at major theatres in the whole country.”

Please tell me what I didn’t notice about the rifles on the chair.

Let’s see if I can figure out how to add it as spoiler:

I saw an elephant’s trunk moving around there for a sec. Maybe I imagined it. I was sure then, but I’m not now, since it’s an underground bunker I can’t imagine how there’s a elephant there. But it makes sense – the trunk could’ve pulled the pilot out of the plane and tossed him up a tree, an elephant is perfectly capable of knocking down trees, it’s decidedly “not a monster”, and…. that would explain the lack of peanut butter. *grin*

I thought that was just my imagination. Well, even if it wasn’t there, at least I am not the only one who saw it.

After having a look over the video a few times the closest I can see is her arm moving…

I’m more interested in ‘Alex’ … possible spoiler:

Perhaps Alex is pretending to be a survivor of the plane crash… presumably he’s youngish, maybe 16/17? So my suspicion would be Hurley, though I don’t have an explanation why he’s so big living on this island…

            anyone have any suggestions?

That voice was an instant dead giveaway, and a very pleasant surprise. Quite a different role…though it would be interesting to find out if it takes as long to get into 16-year grunge makeup vs bonehead makeup ;-)

Yes it was. And an awesome surprise, having missed her name in both the opening credits and the cable-box-guide-info. When she began to talk, I cried “Delenn!” I *heart* Mira. Yugoslavia’s loss is our gain.

  3. Purgatory
This episode has not dispelled the idea that the island is some sort of purgatory where people face their personal karma. Sayid has tortured people, and now he faces torture of his own.

  4. Worse
It’s actually a triple helping of the Bachelor, two hours then a post-game
    show “After the Final Rose”…
    [headshake speed=”slow” voice=”Lurch”]Uhhnnnnn….[/headshake]

At least it isn’t cancelled yet unlike life as we know it.
