This is really about the classic releases, including the quickly produced Burt Reynolds and Neil Simon collections we all knew were coming.

Satanic Rites of Dracula (1973)
Amazon | |||||||||
Comments | Alex: I’m going to put myself out there and say The Satanic Rites of Dracula is actually underrated – especially since Castlevania Season 2 took the Dracula seeks to wipe out all life on earth as an elaborate form of suicide plot from this film.

Comments | Alex: The first of WWE’s “Blood Money” Pay-Per-Views paid for by the same Saudi prince who ordered the murder of Jamal Khashoggi in the Saudi Consolate in Istanbul. To cut the Vincent K. McMahon Jr. a small (mostly undeserved) amount of slack, this was before the murder, but after Prime Minister Saad Hariri of Lebanon was kidnapped by the Saudi government and held incommunicado until he agreed to resign, and only then was he permitted to leave the country (at which point he recinded the resignation as soon as he was safely back home). |
Finally, the picks of the week. Alex says, “Cowboy Bebop: The Movie is my pick of the week, and I’d recommend listening to the podcast episode for more information as to why. :-)” Blaine says, “Some Like It Hot really is a wonderful movie, even if it’s not my choice for the greatest comedy of all time. Marilyn Monroe, Jack Lemmon, and Tony Curtis would very well together.”
Pixar shorts are some of the best short animation (visual and story) around. Period. I highly recommend picking up Volume 3. I’ll be grabbing Discovery as well.
Seconded on Pixar, I am not the sort to tear up at… well, nearly anything, but Pixar seems to be able to make me do it anytime they try.
The know the combination to our emotional vaults. Damn them.
Pixar’s a good choice.
I have a morbid curiosity about Take It Out in Trade, and I’ve reviewed The Satanic Rites of Dracula. I’m less enthusiastic than Alex, but I think it’s worth a look, if you like the genre.
I’ve seen a production of the stage musical version of A Christmas Story. It didn’t work especially well for me, and I’m a fan of the film.
I like the motivation of the plot in Satanic Rites – but yes, the conclusion of that film is pretty weaksauce.
