Comic Television Discussion – Week beginning 31 March 2019

While Arrow and The Flash hide from the April Fools that are everywhere, the fools of DC’s Legends of Tomorrow return to the airwaves to keep Supergirl company.  The Legends spend a lot of time dealing with their Bureau (not this Bureau,) and Supergirl gives us Ms. Teschmacher’s tale.  American Gods give us more pairings of Laura and her Leprechaun, while Bilquis debates a spider.

Riverdale continues to explorer the drug trade and boxing worlds, Marvel’s Cloak and Dagger also returns, deciding their great powers must come with great responsibility, and may not be so great after all.

Sabrina also returns with either the last episode of Season 1, or the first episode of Season 2, depending on where you look.  If you want to warm up from her Chilling Adventures, Arthur and The Tick drop their second season this week, also.

[All synopses (and titles) from Trakt.tv or IMDB below the cut, except when there really aren’t any.  (If a show’s synopsis is a spoiler to you, do not click More…)]

With no evidence to back up her theory, the Legends must decide if they should trust her and go against the Bureau. Meanwhile, Nate and Zari go on a recon mission to find out what Hank might be hiding from everyone.

The Flash – S05E18 – Godspeed – After discovering that Nora (Jessica Parker Kennedy) is working with Thawne (Tom Cavanagh), Barry (Grant Gustin) and Iris (Candice Patton) disagree about how to handle their daughter in the wake of this shocking news. Team Flash isn’t sure they can trust Nora, so they go through her journal to find out exactly how she came to work alongside their greatest nemesis. (Returns 16 April 2019)

Riverdale – S03E18 – Chapter Fifty-Three: Jawbreaker – When a tainted batch of fizzle rocks makes its way through Riverdale, Jughead and FP set out to find who’s responsible. Elsewhere, Betty makes one last attempt to rescue Alice from The Farm’s grip, and Toni becomes unsettled by a sudden change in Cheryl’s behavior. (Returns 17 April 2019)

Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger – S02E01 – Restless Energy – Now living very different lives, Tyrone and Tandy try to stay under the wire while still honing their powers. After coming to terms with their destiny, the two now find it difficult to just stand by and do nothing while bad things continue to happen throughout the city. Meanwhile, Brigid is struggling from her recovery.

Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger – S02E02 – White Lines – Desperate to help, but only finding they cause more problems than solving them, Tyrone and Tandy continue to struggle with their situation. What is the point of having superpowers if you only seem to make things worse?

  1. Supergirl finally realizes she’s being unreasonable with Lena. That’s not to say I necessarily agree with what Lena’s been doing, but Supergirl’s response has been anything but reasonable up to now, however in character it might be.

Also, was I imagining it or did Ben appear unconvinced by the events of the climax? I wonder if Jame’s comment earlier combined with other things might have him actually thinking.

  2. Legends was kind of fun this week. I have to admit to having a bit of a “moment” during the final fight. It should have been obvious but for some reason it just didn’t occur to me that it would happen. I mean, they pointed out the clues multiple times. Maybe I was just distracted by the Ray Palmer over the top announcer bit or the family drama.
