Weekly Comics Discussion – Wednesday, March 30, 2005

This week, the releases
include
a number of products that seem designed to
break my bank at the moment, including Batman
Chronicles Vol. 1
, DC: Countdown to Infinite
Crisis #1
, Doctor Spectrum (of 6),
Essential Tomb of Dracula Vol. 4,
Fantastic Four #524, Pulse #8, and
Secret War #4.

  1. Countdown to Infinite Crisis
Please tell me this isn’t yet *another* of DC’s attempts to explain/integrate multiple universes. Can anyone tell me what this is about (the writeup at dccomics.com was pretty vague)?

I haven’t picked up my copy yet, but it’s cheap ($1 US) for
80 pages, so I’m giving it a shot. When asked if it was a
continuity clean like Crisis on Infinite Earths
was, the DC EIC said that it wasn’t, but rather it was just
a good story. I should be able to pick up my comics for
this week after work tonight, so I’ll know more then.

I just read it, and am fairly impressed. Good plot and
pacing, with a number of different ideas setting up the
upcoming miniseries. The OMAC project and Villains United
actually interest me now. Definitely worth the cover
      price.
