This week’s DVDs aren’t quite as interesting as this
week’s books. (Remember, Harry Potter and the
Half Blood Prince will be out on July 16.)
First, the genre releases:
- The
Best of
He-Man and the Masters of the Universe: 10
episodes from the
series. The complete series will be out, starting
later this year. - Chronicles
of
Narnia: A three disk set of the PBS adaptations of
“The Lion, The
Witch, and the Wardrobe,” “Prince Caspian and the
Voyage of the Dawn
Treader,” and “The Silver Chair.” - Hercules
– The
Legenday Journeys Season 6: A 5 DVD set with
another season of
this series. - Tales
From The
Crypt – Season One: The entire first season (six
episodes) is
found within.
Now, the non-genre releases:
- Agatha
Christie’s Poirot – The Classic Collection: A 12
DVD set of the
PBS series. - Comedy
Legend
– Buster Keaton: Keaton was amazing. - Le
Notti
Blanche: More Criterion Collection goodness. - Million
Dollar
Baby: This is the 3 disk deluxe edition, complete
with soundtrack. - Mind
the
Gap: I have no idea what this is about. It was
written and
directed by Eric Schaeffer, who plays Darwin on
Century City,
so the title caught my eye. I’d be willing to give it
a shot. - Night
Moves: This is another well respected title that I
haven’t gotten
around to seeing yet. - Unfaithfully
Yours: Criterion Collection. ‘Nuff said. - A
Very Long
Engagement: I didn’t get a chance to see this when
it played in
local theaters, but with the same creative team as
Amelie,
it’s going to be hard to say no.
Finally, the pick of the week. Bill
and Ted’s Most
Excellent Collection: Both of the Bill and Ted
movies, and a
special features disk. If I didn’t already own both,
I’d certainly
pick this up.
