X-Men 2 to begin filming

Hugh Jackman (Wolverine) dribbled some tidbits at the premiere of “Swordfish.” SciFi wire has a little more detail, along with comments from director Bryan Singer.

  1. The Sequel We All Knew Was Coming
Since the point of the first one was to set up the second one, I trust no one is surprised. Actually, check that: I’m surprised they hadn’t started already.

I did enjoy the first one, in the same way I enjoy other mindless entertainment, but I’m not all that jazzed about the sequel yet. I am sure the Hollywood Machine will help to jazz me shortly.

I’m not so sure about the sequel. I knew it was coming, as they had signed the entire cast up for two films in the beginning, and they decided to wait on the filming until after the strikes.

The part that concerns me is the inclusion of human sentinels as the enemy, which has been reported at Ain’t It Cool News and other places. This, to me, is taking too much liberty with the property. I hope they get straightened out before they decide on a shooting script.

That Will Be Bad: They Can’t Beat The Crap Out Of A Person. Only One person Bled The Entire First Episode, And That Was Mystic. What Good Is having Metal Claws If the Only Thing You Can Cut Is A Gun Or Metal Detector? He May As Well Have Bottle Openers, I’m Sure They’d Be A Tad Bit More Useful. If You Have Robot Sentinels, You Can At Least Destroy Them With Some Good Slice And Dice.

      • Human sentinels?

How so? Human (“Prime”) sentinels have appeared in the comics (in Operation: Zero Tolerance), so how is including them in the movie “taking too much liberty”? It sounds to me like the writers of the script know more about the comics than you do, which suggests a respect for the property.

That’s a possibility. The only Sentinels I’m familiar
with are the massive robots, but I confess I stopped
collecting when the increasing cost exceeded my budget.
(This was in grade 9, so that would be 1991 or 1992.)
